Solids Recovery System - SRS
What is SRS?
The Solid Recovery System, manufactured and designed by our partner Sati, is equipment installed with the aim of recovering all by-products generated during extrusion, screening, drying, and cooling processes. It recovers both the wet by-products from extruder start-ups and the dry and fine ones from the remaining processes.
According to studies, between 1.5% and 3% of by-products are generated, and in some cases, this can reach up to 5%. The main advantages of the SRS are:
- Saves costs and reprocessing time.
- By-products return to the process immediately, preventing decomposition or fly proliferation.
- Recovers both wet and dry products.
- No need to regrind the by-products.
- Improves traceability.
- Achieves homogeneity.
As shown in the image below, the equipment features two stainless steel tanks (compliant with FDA and EHEDG standards). In one of them, the homogenization process of the by-products takes place, while in the other, the mixture is kept in motion to later be injected into the extruder's pre-conditioner.
An important and necessary point to highlight is that the solid recovery process is fast, preventing material decomposition (especially when dealing with the wet by-products from extruder start-ups and stops).
The Solid Recovery System is a proven solution and the best way to safely and efficiently reuse all the by-products from the extrusion process in the production of pet food, as well as in aqua feed and animal feed processes.
